It’s no secret that I am a HUGE Disney lover, so when Kyle emailed me about photographing his surprise proposal for his girlfriend McKenzie in Disney world, I was SO excited! Kyle had seen my images from Drew and Charlotte’s surprise proposal, and had planned to propose on the same boat! The Grand One is by far my favorite fireworks cruise at the Grand Floridian hotel, so I was excited to be able to shoot on that boat again!
Kyle has pretty much been planning this proposal for awhile. He once surprise McKenzie with a trip to Disney World, and that was the beginning of his master plan. Kyle knew he wanted to propose at Disney, and by planning multiple surprise trips there it would throw her off and not make her suspicious! When they checked into their hotel, Kyle planned to have the staff tell them “their room wasn’t ready yet”, and in return them would offer them this fireworks cruise for the inconvenience.
When they arrived to the Grand One boat, I pretended to be a Disney cast member that was going to photograph them on the boat that night. Let me tell you…..it’s HARD pretending to be a cast member! Kyle kept messing with me and asked really hard questions, because he knew I had to answer them so I wouldn’t blow my cover! (after Kyle proposed I had to tell McKenzie that whatever I said was probably a lie and just to forget it all, ha!!)
Kyle put so much thought into this moment for McKenzie that he even planned out the exact time during the fireworks show that he wanted to propose!! When you scroll down through the images, take notice on how the fireworks get more extravagant when he’s on one knee! He timed it perfectly!
The next day we met up in Hollywood Studios, McKenzie’s fav park, to take some engagement pictures! Orlando weather in December is so perfect, not too hot and not too chilly! My favorite part about their proposal and engagement is the ring Kyle designed for McKenzie. Kyle is an engineer, and he used AutoCAD to design her ring! For those not familiar with AutoCAD, it’s a software for designing buildings, machines, cars…..anything that’s engineered! Kyle designed every aspect of the ring, and he included the stone from his grandmother’s wedding ring on the side of the center stone. To differentiate which stone is his grandmother’s, he had a subtle little swirl engraved on the side where that stone is. He planned everything with so much heart, and McKenzie was so in love!
See the little swirl? Now they will always know which stone came from Kyle’s grandmothers ring!
